Adult Autism Evaluation and Diagnosis:
-
Initial Visit - The first visit is a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms, review of your mental health history, physical health, and family history. Dr. Smith will determine if there are enough criteria to proceed with an Autism evaluation and which type of testing is best for your unique needs.
-
Adult Autism Evaluation Visit - Approximately 90 minute clinical interview that can be done through a telehealth appointment.
-
Results and Treatment Plan Visit - A telehealth visit to discuss the results of the screening assessments and diagnostic interview. Options for treatment will be reviewed and a plan will be created.
-
Follow up-up appointments - Your progress will be closely monitored until you are stable. You are encouraged to ask questions and learning autism specific skills is an important part of treatment..
Management of Autism for Those Previously Diagnosed:
-
New Patient Appointment - If you have already been diagnosed with autism, the first visit will review your medical and mental health history. Dr. Smith understands that many medications are ineffective or cause a lot of side effects. She listens to your concerns and works with you to create a plan that you are comfortable with. Medicaid & Medicare is accepted for Autism patients. Dr. Smith sees Level 3 Autism patients that have "aged out" of pediatric care.
-
Follow-up appointments - Close monitoring is essential whenever there are changes. The scheduling process is easy and there are flexible times. Most importantly, you will have access to Dr. Smith and she is responsive to concerns in-between visits.
Adults on the Spectrum have different needs than kids.
